Ascocarp Morphology. Ascocarp subglobose or globose, orifice or cavity absent, 1-3(-7) cm in diameter, brown (reddish brown) or red or black, with warts, warts flat, color of spore-bearing tissue purple or black, veins narrow and numerous. Peridium 550-800 micron, outermost layers 500-600 micron (including warts), red-brown, anatomical structure pseudoparenchimatic with roundish cells, cell tangential dimension 10-20 micron, cell radial dimension 10-20 micron, innermost layers 50-200 micron, color hyaline or yellow-brown (faintly pigmented), anatomical structure plectenchymatic, cell tangential dimension 3-5 micron, cell radial dimension 3-5 micron, external cystidia absent. Sterile veins plectenchimatic.

Asci ans spores Morphology. Asci globose, major axis 50 micron, minor axis 75 micron, number of spores per ascus (1-)3-5(-6), irregularly clustered, iodine reaction orange (colourless wall), color in KOH hyaline.

Spores ellipsoid or subglobose, major axis (25-)31(-38) micrometer lenght, minor axis (21-)25(-29) micrometer lenght, color nearly opaque, spines; ornamentation length 3-6 micron (1-3 micron diameter at the base).

Distribution. Putative plant host Quercus.

DNA polymorphism. ITS restriction pattern with EcoRI 250-300 bp, or 300-350 bp; SphI 250-300 bp, or 300-350 bp; HincII 50-100 bp, or 100-150 bp, or 400-450 bp, or 550-600 bp; DNA sequence ID of the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 regions TIU89360;TIU89362;TIU89361.

Mycorrhizae morphology. Mycorrhizae emanting hyphae absent, or rare; anatomy of emanating hyphae: clamps absent; color of emanating hyphae hyaline; color of very tip whitish, or ochre, yellowish brown; color of older parts ochre, yellowish brown, or brown, or black; cystidia absent, or present; needle like; color pale yellow; intercalate swelling absent; ramification present; abundant; monopodial, or dichotomous; proximal, or medial, or distal; anatomy of the mantle pseudoparenchymatus with angular cells, or pseudoparenchymatus with epidermoid hyphal cells" like a puzzle".
